Mini Geek Boutique created the fantastic David Meowie mirrors that came in with our January kits. We caught up with shop owner, Tracey to ask her about her business and of course, Bowie.
Hello Tracey. Thank you for chatting with us. When did you start minigeekboutique and why?
I started Mini Geek three and a half years ago when I wanted some unique geeky clothing for my son. We all love comics and we can by marvel and DC stuff at high street stores but I wanted something hat reflected more than just comics, science, space, computing, and so I decided to do my own!
What were you doing before?
I work as a secondary school teacher, a job I've been doing for more than ten years so fitting the orders around that is quite a task.
Where did you find inspiration for the David Meowie mirrors?
I was devastated when David Bowie passed away last year and I decided to honour his memory with some drawings. I love cats (I have two myself) and one cat (Molly, who also sadly passed away last year) would always give me a very discerning stare so I decided to combine the two in honour of them both.
How long have you been designing?
I've always been drawing, designing, digital drawing for as long as I can remember. I love how shapes can be combined to make new designs.
What is your favourite geek range that you make and why?
My current favourite has to be the solar system one, I do love a good pun. I'm currently working on a new range so that's exciting too.
